Newcastle - CBP 2026
Community Building Partnership (CBP) 2026 Grant Program - Newcastle
Welcome to the CBP 2026 Program for the Electoral District of Newcastle. This program provides an opportunity for local community organisations and councils to strengthen the wellbeing of NSW communities through small local infrastructure projects.
The local Member of Parliament (MP) has prepared the below summary of the electoral district priorities to provide guidance to applicants considering lodging an Expression of Interest (EOI) for 2026 CBP funding in the electoral district of Newcastle.
Electoral District Priorities
Our electorate is characterised by a large and growing population and has one of the most vibrant and progressive communities in NSW. New higher density housing developments have placed a strain on our community facilities.
Assistance from Domestic Violence service providers are in high demand for the Newcastle electorate and support for these services is crucial.
Some groups in our electorate have high levels of disadvantage and we have a higher-than-average level of homelessness so better supports within our charitable organisations will relieve some of this pressure. Priorities for funding through the CBP grant program include:
- Projects that will improve the infrastructure that supports the delivery of services to multicultural communities, local sporting groups, domestic violence service providers and local community organisations. This could include a range of services that encourage community cohesion, support local infrastructure, and provide safe meeting places.
- Infrastructure upgrade to our local organisations to support community identity and the community outreach services they provide.
- Projects that support active and healthy lifestyles. This could include sporting facilities and equipment, cycle and walking paths or park upgrades.
- Projects that support the engagement of our youth. This could include sporting facilities, enhanced learning and play facilities in our lower socio-economic schools.
- Projects that upgrade infrastructure to respond to increasing heat and climate change.
- Enhanced learning and recreational facilities in low socio-economic schools that could enable out of school hours usage of school facilities.
- Infrastructure that enhances our before and after school facilities and pre-school or childcare facilities in lower socio-economic areas.
- Infrastructure that supports youth organisations including clubs, cultural groups, and meeting places for families.
- Projects that provide green and open spaces and encourage active lifestyles and shared community activities.
- Projects that support our First Nations people
