Heffron - CBP 2026
Community Building Partnership (CBP) 2026 Grant Program - Heffron
Welcome to the CBP 2026 Program for the Electoral District of Heffron. This program provides an opportunity for local community organisations and councils to strengthen the wellbeing of NSW communities through small local infrastructure projects.
The local Member of Parliament (MP) has prepared the below summary of the electoral district priorities to provide guidance to applicants considering lodging an Expression of Interest (EOI) for 2026 CBP funding in the electoral district of Heffron.
Electoral District Priorities
The Heffron electorate is characterised by a diverse and rapidly evolving community landscape, shaped by long-established neighbourhoods, significant levels of cultural and linguistic diversity, and a high concentration of residents living in medium- and high-density housing. With growing populations in suburbs marked by extensive apartment living and limited private open space, and with community groups supporting residents across a wide spectrum of ages, backgrounds and circumstances, the electorate’s shared facilities and community programs play an increasingly important role in everyday life. Many local organisations operate in environments where ageing infrastructure, changing patterns of use and shifts in community expectations intersect, creating a need for spaces and resources that remain flexible, accessible, safe and responsive to both longstanding and emerging pressures.
In identifying electorate priorities, consideration has been given to demographic indicators such as the high proportion of residents speaking languages other than English at home, the presence of young families alongside older residents living alone, varied socio-economic conditions between suburbs, and the reliance many communities have on shared facilities for recreation, cultural expression, social participation and local service delivery. These factors highlight the importance of community environments that can accommodate a wide range of activities and needs, whether connected to culture, sport, learning, wellbeing, social cohesion, participation or inclusion, and that community infrastructure must be capable of adapting to patterns of demand that shift over time.
Priority will therefore be given to projects that contribute to the strength and sustainability of community life by improving, enhancing or supporting the places, programs and resources that people interact with across the electorate. This may include initiatives that help ensure buildings, facilities, equipment or shared spaces continue to meet the needs of growing and diverse populations; projects that support participation by making community settings more accessible, welcoming or functional; and activities that assist local organisations to deliver services or programs that respond to the realities of life in Heffron. Consideration will also be given to proposals that recognise the importance of safe, resilient and environmentally sustainable community environments, given the electorate’s mix of older assets, newer developments and areas experiencing environmental pressures.
Across Heffron, community groups, sporting clubs, cultural organisations, neighbourhood centres and service providers each play a role in supporting the wellbeing and inclusion of local residents. Projects that help these organisations maintain or improve the infrastructure and resources that underpin their work, or that enhance the broader community’s ability to participate, connect or access services, are well aligned with the needs identified within the electorate. These priorities are intended to reflect the interconnected nature of community life in Heffron and to support a wide range of initiatives that contribute to the vitality, cohesion and accessibility of the electorate’s many communities.
