Community Building Partnership (CBP) 2026 Grant Program - Ballina 

Welcome to the CBP 2026 Program for the Electoral District of Ballina. This program provides an opportunity for local community organisations and councils to strengthen the wellbeing of NSW communities through small local infrastructure projects.

The local Member of Parliament (MP) has prepared the below summary of the electoral district priorities to provide guidance to applicants considering lodging an Expression of Interest (EOI) for CBP funding in the electoral district of Ballina. 

Electoral District Priorities 

The Ballina electorate is home to a vibrant network of community organisations, volunteer-run groups, youth services, sporting clubs, arts and cultural initiatives and environmental stewardship groups. They are the backbone of community life and operate under increasing pressure from rising costs, climate impacts and major weather events. Ballina acutely feels the pressure of the Housing crisis, raking 3rd in NSW for Households spending more than 30% of their income on rent.

Given our geography and evolving needs, from coast to hinterland, priority will be given to projects that:

  • strengthen climate resilience, including upgrades that help community facilities withstand extreme weather, improve energy efficiency, or reduce operational vulnerability during storms, heatwaves and floods
  • strengthen the ability of organisations supporting disadvantaged groups, especially those affected by the housing crisis
  • support community transport, whilst ideally reducing reliance on fossil fuels
  • enhance accessibility and inclusion, ensuring spaces and services are safe, welcoming and usable for people of all abilities, backgrounds and ages
  • revitalise spaces that serve as essential gathering points during emergencies or high-use community hubs year-round
  • support the wellbeing and participation of local groups, helping clubs and volunteer organisations remain strong, connected and sustainable
  • ensure funding is distributed equitably across the electorate
